What we need to see
How to photograph your National ID
We read your name, ID number and photograph from the card.
Do this
Use the front — the side with your photograph.
Fit the whole card in the picture, corners included.
Lay it flat on a plain, dark surface.
Use bright, even light and turn the flash off.
Avoid
The back of the card — we cannot read it.
Cut-off corners or edges.
Glare or shadow across your photo or the numbers.
A photo of a screen or a photocopy — both blur the text.
How to photograph your passport
We read the two lines of code at the bottom of your details page.
Do this
Open to the details page with your photograph.
Include the two lines of code at the bottom.
Press the page flat so the text does not curve.
Use bright, even light and turn the flash off.
Avoid
The cover or the visa pages.
The two code lines cut off or covered by a finger.
Glare from the laminate across the page.
A curved page that bends the text out of shape.
